Position Summary:
At Skokie, our Product Engineering team is integral to the design, development, and enhancement of new and existing products, focusing on engineering solutions and product innovation. Utilizing state-of-the-art design software, prototyping tools, and working cross-functionally with other teams, the Product Engineering Intern will participate in the various stages of product design, development testing, and the refinement of gaskets and other engine components. Under the mentorship of senior engineering personnel, the intern's responsibilities include contributing to product design specifications, prototype development, performing basic engineering analyses, and supporting the engineering staff with various other types of activities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)
Assist in the development and testing of product designs with guidance from Product Engineering staff, which includes reverse engineering analysis, design development, and part validation activities
Support the engineering team in designing and implementing product improvements and other design activities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing and quality, to ensure product specifications meet production capabilities and quality standards.
Contribute to a clean and safe working environment within the engineering office and lab and adhere to all safety and compliance standards.

Qualifications - Required Skills:
Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude, with an ability to apply engineering principles to real-world problems.
Proficiency with engineering design software (e.g., CAD) and understanding of manufacturing processes a plus
Commitment to maintaining equipment, tools, and workspace in optimal condition.
Strong observational skills to identify and report on testing outcomes and product performance issues.
Proficient with standard office software for documentation and communication purposes.
Adherence to safety protocols and a proactive approach to ensuring a safe work environment.

Desirable Educational / Work Experience:
Enrolled in a technical or engineering field of study - Mechanical Engineering preferred
Passionate about the automotive field
Previous design or hands-on automotive experience a plus
