Job Description

The Business Services Representative builds and maintains effective connections between the local business community and the Workforce Development System in Kane, Kendall, and DeKalb Counties to promote employers’ utilization of services available under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). The position is primarily responsible for providing employer outreach to assess workforce hiring/skills needs, identify resources, and discuss appropriate services that can be provided, including the facilitation of referrals through the workNet Batavia partner network. This may include presentations and travel across the three-county area including office locations in Batavia, DeKalb and Yorkville. The position also serves as a liaison between employers and WIOA program participants in order to develop job opportunities and promote job-seeker customers as a “talent pipeline” for employers. Reporting to the Business Services Manager, the position assists with the development and implementation of innovative strategies to deliver workforce solutions that are responsive to the talent recruitment, hiring, and skills-training needs of businesses. The position plans and implements hiring events, and coordinates with the Career Services team to identify, assess, and screen for potential job-ready candidates that match employment/training opportunities. The Business Services Representative is responsible for researching and recruiting employers to participate in local training initiatives, which includes On-the-Job Training (OJT) and Incumbent Worker Training (IWT), and supports the development and implementation of corresponding contracts and training plans. The position will also be responsible for accurately maintaining tracking tools/systems to monitor employer engagement/program activity and outcomes. Qualified applicants will have a bachelor’s degree and previous public sector or workforce development experience is strongly preferred, especially in the areas of customer-focused services and technical assistance to employers. Applicants should be a self-starter with strong organization and time management skills, good research skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities, solid computer skills and excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Knowledge about current local employment conditions and state/federal workforce development programs with the ability to survey and determine employer needs is preferred. Position is grant funded.
