Loyola University Chicago is seeking a Lecturer to teach introductory and upper-level courses in Geographic Information Systems ( GIS ) including Introduction to GIS , Advanced GIS , Remote Sensing; teach sophomore-level Environmental Statistics course; develop new courses in GIS and spatial statistics as the technology advances; contribute to new GIS Laboratory; provide students and faculty researchers with fixed-schedule tutoring sessions; contribute to the GIS Certificate program and mentoring students in GIS projects within the GIS Laboratory; develop and engage in research projects during the summer months and apply for grant funding.

Qualifications

PhD degree in Geography or related field plus 2 years related experience. Prior experience must include: Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate (master’s-level) courses in Introductory GIS , Advanced GIS , Remote Sensing, GIS Programming, and Environmental Statistics; Teach upper level undergraduate and graduate level courses using Python and R programming languages; Demonstrate proficiency in using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and QGIS to analyze spatial data and remote sensing images in environmental research, teaching, and tutoring; Manage multi-user GIS accounts, databases, and servers; Incorporate undergraduate and graduate students in environmental and geospatial research projects, and mentor them through the research process; Collaborate with government agencies and community-based organizations in applied environmental and geospatial research; Assess students’ skills for placement in appropriate courses.
