Job Description

 Home Based Teacher/Parent Coordinator

This position is a full time (12 months/year) position and is based at the Metropolis Head Start in Metropolis, Illinois.  It does come with a benefit package (including vacation, personal, and sick time accrual, holidays, health and life insurance, and an employer sponsored cafeteria plan).  This position provides plans and implements a home-based learning experiences during weekly home visits in the family's home. This position also provides case management activities to families on his/her caseload.

Qualifications:  At a minimum an Associate Degree in Early Childhood, Social Work or approved related field (sociology, psychology, family studies, counseling, family development/theory, or human services development); prefer Bachelor Degree and at least one year of experience providing direct services to families.

Job Duties:

  • Schedules and plans weekly home visits for at least 90 minutes per week in the family's home implementing an age appropriate curriculum to nurture and stimulate all domains of children's development.
  • Drives own vehicle on weekly home visits (mileage is reimbursed to employee).
  • Schedules and plans at least two group socializations per month.
  • Administers developmental screening tools within 45 days of enrollment.
  • Maintains an online portfolio on each child's progress and development.
  • Assists families in goal setting including a Family Partnership Agreement.
  • Assists families with obtaining health records and any needed follow up treatment.
  • Documents case notes and services into a program data base.
  • Maintains a knowledge of community and area resources and refers families for any needed services.
  • Completes a face to face intake including income verification for families applying for the program.
  • Assists families with advocacy such as attending IEP/IFSP meetings, parent meetings, etc.
  • Encourages parent, family, and community engagement activities.
  • Any other duties as requested or assigned to meet the requirements of the Head Start program.
