Job Description

Description Robert Half is looking for an Accountant for a client in the western suburbs. The Accountant will deliver accurate, detailed financial reporting that informs company strategy. With ambitious investments in the future already underway, we have an ever-increasing need for well-executed collaboration between Accounting and the rest of the operation. The Accountant will manage the accounting and reporting cycle for large capital expenditure projects while applying research, quantitative analysis, and creative thinking skills to solve problems and improve processes across our business. Responsibilities Include:

- Owning parts of the month-end close process, gathering information from multiple source systems to create journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and explain variances.

- Becoming a subject matter expert on thematic topics within the accounting cycle. For example, you may become the company’s financial expert on construction in progress, accounting for transportation expenses, or tracking insurance costs.

- Research and report on significant variances in costs and other financial events to company leadership, such as construction cost variances to ensure projects maintain financial control.

- Build forecasts and budgets for company expenses, collaborating with operational departments to plan for the future.

Successful Accountant will have:

- Bachelor’s Degree with a major in business, finance, accounting, economics preferred

- 2-4 Years work experience

- Well-rounded individual with knowledge of project management, including cost segregation, and billing cycles.

- Curiosity and strong attention to detail

- A growth-oriented mindset that is open to learning new skillsets, taking on new responsibilities, and gaining exposure to a variety of financial operations

- A high level of autonomy and a proven record of resourcefulness

- Strong written and verbal communication with an emphasis on being able to translate complex or ambiguous data to key company stakeholders succinctly.

- CPA certification preferred, but not required.
