Email a Friend Save Save Apply Now Position Summary: The Patient Care Manager oversees the daily operations of a multidisciplinary team in the Carle Cancer Institute as well as focuses on providing quality, cost-effective care. Qualifications: EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

+ Registered Professional Nurse (RN) License Illinois upon hire and

+ Basic Life Support (BLS) (AHA) within 30 days and

+ Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Certification within 6 months and

+ National Nursing Certification Oncology Certified Nurse is preferred within 2 years.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

+ Three (3) years Nursing required.

+ Oncology nursing experience and/or

+ One (1) year of leadership experience is preferred.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

+ Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients, patient families, other staff members and physicians.

+ Analytical skills sufficient to gather and interpret data in a variety of situations, both routine and atypical.

+ Strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills.

+ Budgetary experience in the management of fiscal data.

+ Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary team and customers, verbally and in writing.

+ Knowledge of EMR and PC applications.

Essential Functions:

+ Manages operations of department

+ Ensures standards of quality and service are provided in accordance with organizational goals and priorities.

+ Establish and maintain oncology nursing standards utilizing evidence-based practices.

+ Manages staff and daily operations inclusive of the coordination of patient care effectively, timely, and professionally.

+ Initiates personnel actions for hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, performance evaluations, and disciplinary measures.

+ Ensures staff members are adequately trained and are competent to perform all required job tasks.

+ Assumes responsibility for continuing education and developmental needs of self and staff.

+ Works with the staff to maintain satisfactory patient satisfaction scores on annual basis.

+ Manages areas of responsibility within budget.

+ Minimizes the use of overtime and other unplanned expenses wherever possible and staff accordingly to patient needs.

+ Ensures all chemo staff are trained and competent on all procedures.

+ This position will have direct oversight of outpatient infusion taking place.

+ Plans and executes unit budget. Identifies and justifies variances on a monthly basis.

+ Functions as a role model in oncology, demonstrating competency in clinical judgment and appropriate knowledge base.

+ Demonstrates clinical expertise in the execution of the patient care process and directs and assists staff in its application.

+ Assists in programmatic and regional expansion.
