Join a company in the Wholesale Distribution field as a Database Administrator who loves the challenge of solving problems with multiple layers of complexity through an opportunity offered by Robert Half. This may be the position for you if you are a skilled problem solver with fine-tuned decision-making abilities. The permanent Database Administrator position will be in Woodridge, Illinois.
Your responsibilities in this role
- Baseline system performance, monitor for deviation, and recommend and implement improvements to slow running queries
- Improve performance with the most effective solution, such as hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes
- Provide guidance on database design, tuning options, and other possible issues
- Reduce false alarms to a minimum by configuring database monitoring utilities
- Ensure database server topology, configuration, and maintenance are designed and executed to meet SLA objectives
- Fix database service outages when they happen, which can include after hours and weekends
- Manage all database instances across development, staging, and production environments, handling installation, configuration, and maintenance
Requirements – Oracle experience preferred- Microsoft SQL Server experience
- Azure SQL Database experience
- Familiarity with relational database management systems
- Practical knowledge of storage and server hardware desired
- Understanding of production environments and being on-call
- 5+ years of database experience
- Prior experience building and maintaining documentation
