Title: Carrier Solutions Specialist

Location: Onsite (Rockford or Jacksonville)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm ET/7am-4pm CT
Salary range: $19.02-$23.77 per hour, depending upon experience


What work will you perform?
Carrier Solution Specialists develops and continually refines the working relationship with third party capacity providers. The primary role of the Carrier Solutions Specialist is to monitor the performance of each carrier assigned to them as well as work to build mutually beneficial partnerships across the network. Each specialist will be responsible for identifying and contacting carriers who meet the requirements of Landstar's tracking initiative and preferred carrier program, communicating the benefits of the programs, ensuring accurate carrier information, and establishing an ongoing connection with the carrier. This position will focus on growing strategic relationships with an aim to optimize carrier's fleets and keep them moving within Landstar's network.

Essential Responsibilities:
Assist in the successful development of the Landstar Preferred Program
Promote Landstar Preferred Program to agents and carriers
Monitor carrier performance and provide feedback to leadership
Identify available third-party capacity options for Agents and Internal stakeholders
Act as a liaison between Landstar agents and third-party carriers with the intent of developing a mutually beneficial ongoing relationship
Promote and educate third party capacity on Landstar systems and benefits
Educate capacity of freight lanes and advise which Agents handle those lanes
Achieve monthly S.M.A.R.T. goals as set forth by management
Promote and uphold compliance with Landstar operational excellence standards
Support specific accounts, agents or projects as requested (may require travel)
Update and maintain required certification and training courses
Must perform duties to the standards of the job description and comply with the company's policies, practices, and procedures.
Other duties as Assigned

Required Minimum Experience and Education:
High school diploma, required; or general education degree (GED)
One-year related experience and/or training (logistics, customer service, sales); or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Experience and Education:
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to prioritize and multi-task
Strong problem solving and decision making
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet
Data entry skills 88+ kpm
Geographical knowledge
Industry knowledge
Bi-lingual helpful but not required
Ability to solve practical problems
Ability to process and address unique situations as they arise
Ability to determine alternate solutions to meet business needs
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Effective time management and prioritization skills
Ability to effectively communicate across several audiences
