Position Summary: Reporting to the Director of Advanced Operations Technology, responsible for all EPOX Engineering and Technology for Molding Manufacturing Processes. This position will be responsible for managing and leading the Engineering and Technical Innovation team for our Molding Manufacturing Processes. This position will be crucial in driving the continuous improvement activities in driving the world-class operations excellence.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities:
Assume responsibility for all engineering disciplines in the Molding department. Engineering disciplines include Process Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering.
Create and drive business excellence strategies in striving for the world-class manufacturing culture in following areas:
Continuous Improvement Engineering
Process Engineering Excellence strategies.
Manufacturing Engineering
Serves as a thought leader in the CI culture change, driving the transition and complete adaption across the organization.
Utilize the tools of Problem Solving, Lean, Six Sigma, and other Continuous Improvement Processes to create a culture of world-class Operational Excellence.
Develop capabilities for implementing and driving continuous improvement strategies within Molding department to achieve overarching business strategy.
Actively works with New Product Development group in launching new products and bringing new innovative manufacturing processes.
Evaluate, decide and recommend key critical projects improving the Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost metrics for the department.
Drive the world-class culture of quality with PFMEA, Control plans and other quality documents to ensure the consistency and quality of processes with up to date information.
Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives and problem-solving projects with other cross functional groups. Implement and update best practices from the learnings of each of these activities.
Translates and documents performance improvements to financial values that align with corporate goals.
Communicates and coordinates all CI initiatives throughout the organization to interested parties of varying technical knowledge levels from directors to engineers to operators.
Support production with capacity increase projects through innovative manufacturing processes as well as new purchases.
Evaluate performance of subordinates against their job requirements and performance goals within the time frame designated for their position level.
Monitor the conformance of subordinates to existing Safety, Quality, Delivery and morale metrics as well as time reporting and other work rules. Provide counseling and instructions as necessary.
Develop employee's work skills to improve department's throughput and reduce scrap/rework through trainings and communications.
Provide visual communications of goals to current performance through daily management metrics display and best practices.
Conform with EMS policies and procedures, which includes applicable regulatory requirements.
Provide first-hand knowledge of environmental aspects of their operations.
Support training for new employees on EMS procedures, work instructions, standard work and records.
Create and monitor OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) at a departmental level and detailed process level.
Provide leadership and direction consistent with company and business goals.
Work closely with plant staff to develop "Hi-potential" talent.
Work cross functionally and collaboratively with other departments.
Collaborates and supports Director of Advanced Operations Technology to achieve departmental goals.
Responsible for hire/fire decisions; performance appraisals; employee training and development; handles disciplinary problems. This job will be evaluated on these decisions.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors in a related engineering fields
5+ years of Engineering Management experience in a manufacturing environment
Molding Experience - APG preferred, but injection or other types of molding acceptable
