Our building engineering team assesses the structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in facilities with an emphasis on efficiency and quality.
We are seeking an Electrical Commissioning Agent/Authority for our Building Engineering Market. This position can be based out of any of Gresham Smith's locations.
The successful candidate should be able to follow commissioning related actives:
Prepare project-specific commissioning scope of services and assist in budgeting.
Provide peer review of documents for constructability and commission-ability.
Prepare commissioning plans (pre-functional checklists and functional performance tests) and review plans for completeness.
Review contractor submittals for compliance to contract documents.
Schedule and coordinate commissioning site visits and deliverables for projects.
Travel to active project sites to perform commissioning activities (in a safe and professional manner).
Issue site commissioning site visit reports.
Understand electrical one-line diagrams and schedules.
Proficiency in electrical systems, including high-medium-low voltages, switchgear, and emergency electrical systems.
Review training and O&M materials provided by contractors.
Prepare final commissioning reports for projects.
Additional commissioning activities may be required.
The successful candidate should be able to follow design/design assistance related actives:
Review Gresham Smith's electrical specifications and details for optimal performance and implementation.
Perform Construction Administration for Gresham Smith designs.
Review contractor submittals for compliance to contract documents.
Perform due diligence studies on existing buildings.
Participate in contract bidding and administration. Observe the ongoing progress of a project.
Assist in the coordination of projects with clients, contractors, outside consultants, and firm staff. Communicate and interact with project team members, client representatives, review agencies, and others as appropriate to the project.
Assist in resolving a variety of complex problems (e.g., conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements).
Complete Commissioning Authority (CxA) certification.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 5 years apprenticeship experience.
Preferred 5-10 years of experience in construction-related professions.
Must be able to travel on a flexible schedule.
Demonstrated knowledge using the Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong team player.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
Professional Engineering registration is an advantage, not a requirement.
