Weatherization Trainer- Indoor Climate Research and Training

Job Description

  • Under the guidance of the Assistance Director of Education, provide Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program, energy-related, and healthy home instruction to students in the classroom, online, and in the field as a member of the Indoor Climate Research and Training (ICRT) team.

     

    This position will ensure delivery of assigned duties and program services in accordance with the Agency Vision, Mission, and Values and applicable program contracts, manuals, and guidelines.

  • Requirements
    • 5 years’ experience in the Building Sciences (such as construction management, building construction, etc.) OR  3 years’ experience in home performance AND 2 years with the Building Performance Institute Quality Control Inspector (QCI) certification
    • Experience working as part of a team.
    • Practical and relevant knowledge of the building trades, building performance, or energy-related field.
    • Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a timely and professional manner with a clear message, regardless of circumstances.
    • Verified ability to multi-task and remain organized in order to meet deadlines and goals.
    • Confirmed ability to professionally receive and respond to constructive feedback; using it to improve performance.
    • Proven desire to learn, including self-education, when needed.
    • Verified ability to take initiative.
    • Confirmed strong interpersonal skills, which includes self-confidence, positive attitude, and successfully handling stress under pressure.
    • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
    • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to manage the details of daily tasks and projects.
    • Proven record of accountability, including being willing to take ownership of mistakes.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
    • Confirmed record of producing excellent, demonstrable results
    • Apply knowledge and experience to weatherization, healthy homes, energy efficiency curricula, and other ICRT initiatives, projects, and research.
    • Deliver effective presentations, training, or other instruction to various and appropriate audiences.
    • Recognize unrealistic diagnostic test results and follow-up appropriately.
    • Clearly and accurately relay information in a manner which is appropriate to the audience.
    • Provide professional training to team members.
    • Build positive and effective relationships with a variety of individuals.
    • Employ practical and relevant techniques to solve unique problems, especially in the field.

     Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Characteristics, and Abilities:

    • Teaching experience
    • Fluency in Spanish
    • Strong interest in sustainability, energy-efficiency, education, or health sciences
    • Experience with TREAT or TREAT Multi-Family Energy Audit Software
