Job Description

Our expanding In vivo Tumor Biology group has an opening for a motivated individual who is dedicated to the discovery and development of innovative therapeutics, both small molecule and biologic drugs. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the primary role of this individual will be to support in vivo studies for the pharmacological evaluation of novel agents. Heightened responsibilities will be to independently perform in vivo studies and to interact with other AbbVie Research teams to coordinate delivery and facilitate testing of study derived samples.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Good animal practice:

+ Perform MTDs; records animal weight, observes and records clinical observations on small laboratory animals in a regulatory environment.

+ Small animal restraint, dosing (via oral, IV and intraperitoneal, subcutaneous routes), surgery, collection/ processing of blood/ tissues, formulation of drugs and calculations of the appropriated quantities to ensure proper administration.

+ Compliance with all company, local, Federal, GLP, FDA and USDA rules and regulations.

+ Apply and maintain safety procedures.

+ Will required to work on some weekends and holidays.

+ Effectively collaborate across all department and cross functional teams.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

+ Associate or bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field with 1+ small animal care experience.

+ Team player in a matrixed environment with excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

+ Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.

+ Enthusiastic individual motivated to learn new techniques, with an ability to troubleshoot/ improve techniques as needed.

+ Basic computer skills.

+ Experience with basic sterile techniques, as well as rodent micro-surgical experience regarded as a plus.

Preferred:

+ Previous IACUC laboratory animal training/experience is a plus.

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a plus.

+ Pharma industry experience is a plus.

+ Familiarity with trial designs is a plus.
