Senior Resident Engineer

You Will:
Inspect construction work progress to ensure that materials and work standards conform to specifications and quality requirements of the contract and applicable construction codes.
Coordinate third party quality assurance inspection and tests.
Oversee construction contractors' daily shift activities to ensure compliance of their ES&H plans, applicable OSHA Standards, and applicable hazard analyses.
Ensure contractors provide acceptable work permits and associated Hazard Analyses (HA's) (coring, confined spaces, excavation permits, domestic water, wastewater, electrical permits, etc.)
Coordinate construction contractor's activities with facility operations and other facility construction projects.
Issue reports to project management on construction concerns and work progress and ensure that proper documentation is maintained.
Develop cost estimates to compare with construction contractor change requests.
Verify construction contractor charges for work segments that have been completed.
Verify progress payment invoices and perform final acceptance inspections.
Review and recommend approval of construction contractor's payment applications.
Document changes in field conditions and changes in scope.
Prepare and process field-directed changes.
Communicate with subcontractors on daily/weekly work shifts.
Review contractor submitted as-built construction drawings for accuracy.

We Are Looking For:
Associates degree or equivalent in related field with a minimum of 10+ years of industrial/commercial experience or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology or related field with a minimum of 5+ years of industrial/commercial experience.
Experience in overseeing and managing heavy industrial/ commercial construction is required.
General working knowledge of all construction disciplines, including excavation, concrete, structural steel, electrical, mechanical, telecommunications, and building automation is desired.
Experience in working on capital projects with multiple stakeholders and significant contractor involvement preferred.
Digital literacy and a familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
Must have completed or ability to complete within 30 days OSHA Construction Safety 30 Hour construction safety course.
Must be able to work outside normal working hours when required by supervisor.
Must possess valid Illinois Drivers License.

Ability to occasionally work outside normal working hours (evenings, weekends, holidays).
Ability to work in all field conditions, including underground.
Ability to climb ladders.
Ability to work in elevated platforms.
Ability to visit and traverse construction sites for quality assurance, safety oversight and issue resolution.
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally by commercial air carrier.
