Railroad Public Project Track & Civil Plan Reviewer/Designer
Benesch is seeking to hire a Railroad Public Project Track & Civil Plan Reviewer/Designer. As a Track & Civil Plan Reviewer/Designer, you will work primarily on various Public Projects performing track & civil plan review services, including reviewing plans, completing quantity take-offs, reviewing specifications, etc. Additionally, you will also complete field investigations, analysis, calculations, and be involved in the preparation of railroad engineering plans, specifications, and estimates. If you possess a strong technical design or plan review background and are a strong communicator, this role may be the perfect fit for you!
Benesch's Railroad Division is made up of highly skilled rail professionals, many of whom are former employees of operating railroads. This firsthand experience working to design and maintain active rail systems uniquely equips our team to develop innovative solutions to a wide variety of rail projects.
Preferred Location: This role is ideally situated in our offices in Omaha, NE; Charlotte, NC; Milwaukee, WI; Chicago, IL; Kansas City, KS, or Naperville, IL, with a hybrid work schedule. Remote work may be considered based on experience.
The Impact You Will Have:
You will work on behalf of Railroad Clients to protect their ROW and operations and to assist in helping to deliver successful projects
You will work on challenging projects where you will assist agencies in getting approved projects by providing constructive comments
You will meet project deadlines on schedule and within budget
You will primarily review design plans and work closely with Project Managers and Design Engineers
You will also complete project design plans and work closely with Project Managers and Project Engineers
You will integrate data and perform fundamental analysis of project elements
You will design and draft elements and details
What We Are Looking For:
Ideally possess 2-4 years of experience in Civil Engineering design or plan review, specifically for railroad projects, or hold a degree in Civil or Railroad Engineering.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required.
Basic knowledge of MicroStation, Inroads, and OpenRoads Designer is preferred.
Demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to engineers, clients, and public stakeholders.
Enjoy establishing strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Exhibit a passion for problem-solving and a willingness to acquire new technical skills.
Open to occasional out-of-town travel, ranging from 2-6 times per year, as necessary to meet project demands.
