Job Description

Medline Industries, LP is seeking Sr. Telecom Engineer(s) to provide daily operational activities such as planning, maintenance, support and troubleshooting of Avaya Enterprise Telephony systems. The role will report to the Libertyville, IL office and will collaborate with vendors, operational staff, and peer organizations to ensure the stability and integrity of that telecommunications system.
 
Job responsibilities and duties include:
 
Responsible for the overall quality of the Telecom team’s output, including diagnosing and correcting root process or procedural problems contributing to any quality issues.
 
Work with Team Members to develop and recommend strategies for Telecom growth, security and enhancements by maximizing functionality of Telecom equipment such as Avaya Session Manager, Avaya System Mangers, IP Offices, Avaya SBC, Avaya Contact Center, Avaya Mobile Applications and Avaya Aura Messaging.
 
Responsible for Telecom designs on new constructions, installs and testing of Telecom systems to support SIP and TDM circuits transport across environment.
 
Perform advanced/in depth analysis, monitoring, testing and capacity planning for the Telecom environment in our network.
 
Utilize knowledge and experience with Cisco routing and switching.
 
Configure, enhance, and test call routing vectors to meet business requirements.
 
Perform project management duties for departmental projects.
 
Develop and maintain documentation for Telephony, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.
 
Verify service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms; identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.
 
Document network by labeling and routing equipment and cables; recording configuration diagrams and specifications.
 
Review and respond to trouble tickets generated for the team by the corporate helpdesk; works with end users through resolution as necessary. Also, maintain customer rapport by listening to and resolving concerns; answering questions.
 
Maintain network by troubleshooting and repairing outages; testing network back-up procedures; updating documentation.
 
Create process and technical documentation.
 
Maintain a safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations.
 
Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
 
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
 
Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
 
This position has no direct reports and does not supervise the work of any other employees.

 

Minimum requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Telecommunications, Telecom Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or any related IT or Engineering field of study, plus at least five (5) years of experience in any related position(s) in which the required experience was gained. Employer will accept a three (3) or four (4) year degree.
 
Employer will accept a foreign degree.
 
Qualified applicants must also have demonstrable proficiency, skill, experience, or knowledge with the following:
 
1.   TDM, SIP, H.323, and VOIP.
2.   Demonstrated experience with two or more of the following: network management and security solutions, SBC (Session border controller), Contact Center solutions (CMS, call recording), or MS TEAMS direct routing.
3.   PBX technologies.
4.   Knowledge of enterprise telephony for operating in multiple locations
5.   Working knowledge of project management methodology.
6.   One or more of the following WAN technologies: MPLS, SONET, DS3, T1’s, or LTE.
7.   Network monitoring tools such as Solarwinds and Netflow.
 
10% domestic travel required. Work from home (WFH) benefit available; must be able to come into the Libertyville, IL office for regular meetings.
Occasional extended work hours and weekends required for maintenance activities.
