Job Description

The Company has strong sales channels in North America, and currently possesses emerging sales channels in EMEA and Asia-Pacific (AP).

The main focus of this position will be the procurement of small to medium fabricated parts and electrical equipment. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Request, obtain, and analyze comprehensive supplier quotations for mid-sized orders to support Parts Sales and Contract Engineering/Sales inquiries.  Assure that relevant specifications are made available in all requests for quotations, solicit/recommend cost saving alternatives and thoroughly document all transactions. 
  • Negotiate, prepare, and execute purchase orders/contracts in accordance with established guidelines for ethics, cost management, contracting, terms and conditions, changes, and approval.  Commodities include components & materials more technical in nature.  All items are thoroughly documented.
  • Expedite purchase orders/ contracts to assure that delivery requirements are met.
  • Manage electrical equipment schedules with suppliers.  
  • Follow all quality problems to resolution, assuring that suppliers reimburse the company for problems shown to be caused by them.  
  • Follow all accounts payable discrepancies to resolution.
  • Evaluate current and prospective suppliers, assessing administrative, financial, managerial, product development, capacity, manufacturing, quality, delivery, and service capabilities/performance. 
  • Coordinate closely with Global Product Development (GPD), Contract Engineering and Quality Assurance departments in the evaluation of new suppliers.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement.
  • Fabrication buying experience.

Characteristics and Skills:

  • Ability to read drawings and technical specifications.
  • Track record of wins in negotiations.
  • Understanding of sourcing and ability to leverage buy across a category to gain cost and lead time advantages.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. 
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to balance team activities and individual work.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Prior experience with ERP system.

Essential Physical Abilities:

  • Ability to sit or stand at a computer for 80% of the day.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time.
  • Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
