The basic function of this position is to perform custodial duties as required for daily operation, scheduled events and activities on campus. The custodian position reports to and takes direction from the Lead Custodian, Facilities Services Supervisor and the Senior Buildings and Grounds Manager.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and maintain cleanliness of facilities at the campus in such a manner that the best possible image of the college is presented at all times.

Coordinate and complete furniture moves and event set-ups as required.

Monitor custodial supply inventory and request additional stock as required and verify all inventory is kept in a neat and orderly manner in your assigned area.

Coordinate extra cleaning/set-ups as required due to special needs at the campus as directed.

Perform cleaning tasks as required to make up for missing staff members, unusual conditions, and emergencies.

Handle all emergency situations during the shift to minimize damage to people, buildings and content and to ensure the security of the campus. Inform Lead Custodian, Facilities Services Supervisor and/or Buildings and Grounds Manager immediately of any emergency

Identify and report maintenance problems on campus to the Lead Custodian, Facilities Services Supervisor and/or Buildings and Grounds Manager.

Snow removal as needed

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Two years employment experience in a custodial or maintenance related position.

Physical ability to individually lift 35 pounds.

Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Ability to make work related decisions without immediate supervision.

Ability to work flexible hours as required for special functions at college facilities.
