The Senior Cloud Solutions Engineer (Network) develops and evaluates cloud network performance criteria and measurement methods. Prepares the analysis of the short term or long-term capacity needs for switching, routing transmission and signaling. Conducts cloud network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies. Develops alternative cloud routing scenarios and changes in required sequence of network activities. Conducts economic and population growth studies to determine impact on cloud network capacity and development plan projections. Begins to influence department’s strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to more complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments

Makes decisions on moderately complex to more complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. Performs on-call and implementation duties on nights and weekends as required. Humana is seeking a Senior Cloud Solutions Engineer who will deliver solutions for Multi-Cloud network connectivity. This is a critical role within Humana’s IT organization responsible for the engineering and design, planning, implementation, and establishment of operational and maintenance programs to deliver best-in-class next generation cloud network infrastructure. This includes optimizing all aspects of cloud network eco-system, including performance, resiliency, availability, resource utilization and innovation. This person will provide cloud network design, engineering and administrative support of both physical and virtual networking devices within our Multi-Cloud environments. This person will be responsible for leveraging state-of-the-art networking technologies, including virtualization and software-defined networking (SDN), to develop and deliver a robust, scalable, cloud network eco-system.

The scope will include the following areas of concentration:

+ Network fabric for Private & Public Cloud platforms supporting multiple software defined network overlay technologies; Planning, designing, and deploying new network infrastructure and connectivity for Multi-Cloud environment.

+ Overseeing and performing administration, configuration, and monitoring of all network equipment & cloud resources (switches, routers, firewalls, Expressroute Gateways, User Defined Route tables, etc.).

+ Support the elimination of existing datacenter dependencies to enable cloud/fastest-path access (i.e. VPN, Web Proxy, etc…)

+ Connectivity solutions for supporting a hybrid cloud strategy;

+ WAN circuit topology and telco/carrier technical integration.

Engineering responsibilities for these areas of concentration include, but are not limited:

+ Partnering with internal and external business groups to develop technical solutions to meet business objectives.

+ Design for new solutions;

+ Standard solution configuration;

+ Technology roadmap development, management, and maintenance;

+ Documenting and updating all network infrastructure and supported business processes.

+ Capacity and performance planning;

+ Integration with related infrastructure engineering efforts;

+ Alignment and integration with information security requirements;

+ Definition and development of operational KPIs and metrics;

+ Disaster recovery/business continuity integration;

+ Continuous knowledge and skills improvement;

+ WAN circuit topology and telco/carrier technical integration;

+ Assist in motivating and growing the Network Engineering team to its next level of maturity, agility (NetDevOps) and scalability;

+ Help build foundation and help define capabilities and processes to address network needs in tactical and strategic terms;

+ L4 Troubleshooting & resolving network issues and outages;

+ Application performance troubleshooting using network/cloud tools and methodology;

+ Define, documenting, and enforcing network standards;

+ Perform after-hours solutions implementation;

+ Support other teams as needed, after-hours;

+ Participate in on-call rotation;

+ Write & maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform Enterprise;

+ Write & maintain documentation & SOP’s for other operations teams.

Required Qualifications:

+ BS/BA, preferably in a technical or scientific field or in lieu of BS/BA, 4+ years industry experience + industry certifications

+ 1+ years of experience working with cloud architecture network designs, implementations, and support (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI)

+ Cloud certification such as Azure Architect Expert + Azure Network Engineer Associate

+ Network engineering certification such as CCNA through CCNP or the equivalent

+ 4+ years of technical network engineering experience, and 3+ years of project leadership experience

+ 4+ years of Layer 2/ Layer 3 network architectural design (WAN/Cloud/Data Center) and engineering experience

+ 4+ years of experience working with BGP and other WAN technologies

+ Strong experience supporting large-scale datacenters and remote sites

+ Experience with Cisco networking equipment * Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls

+ Experience in Site-to-Site VPN technologies

+ Knowledge of QoS and network security functions (firewalls, VPN, IPS, etc)

+ Ability to manage complex multi-organizational projects

+ Experience with implementing and operating a software-defined network environment (Viptela, Alkira, etc.)

+ Vendor management skills (hardware/software security vendors as well as third party vendors)

+ Experience working with Data Center Colocation facilities and virtual network fabric provided by vendors such as Equinix and Mega-Port.

+ US Citizenship

+ Pass eQIP certification background check

Preferred Qualifications

+ Demonstrated experience with DevOps

+ Infrastructure as Code experience

+ CI/CD Pipeline experience

+ Programming/scripting languages and frameworks knowledge and experience, in support of automation (Python, Ansible, etc.)

+ Familiarity with Akamai, ZScaler, and ThousandEyes

+ Experience with AGILE methodology & ITSM processes

+ Deep understanding of virtual network appliance offerings and how to apply them to public cloud providers (Amazon AWS, MS Azure, Google GCP).

+ Understanding of Cloud Network Security technologies

+ Familiarity with public cloud provider PaaS and SaaS offerings (e.g. Azure Kubernetes Service, Application Service Environment, etc.) Data Center infrastructure solutions: Cisco (R&S), Palo Alto (NGFW + IDS/IPS functions), Infoblox (DDI), Cisco ISE, also implemented on Cisco products
