Senior Manager, MEMS Process Engineering sought by Knowles Electronics, LLC in Itasca, IL: 

Plan, direct, or coordinate engineering activities in developing MEMS technology for microphones and related mobile platform applications. Provide technical expertise of overseas MEMS wafer foundries, drive capability improvements, resolve issues, and execute new MEMS engineering R&D projects. Work with internal assembly development and factory teams to improve capabilities required to enable future product roadmaps. Responsible for the design and analysis of DOEs (Design of Experiment) to identify major risks, ensure margin for high volume applications, and ensure margin for high volume applications. Contribute ideas for new engineering processes and improvements to MEMS technologies and processing. Develop techniques and strategies for analyzing large data sets to determine correlations between inline metrics and final system performance. Interpret and analyze data from various mechanical, electrical, acoustic and optical characterization procedures on in-line and completed MEMS components. Drive technical innovation to generate IP filings, as well as provide engineering support on New Product Introduction projects. Contribute ideas for new fabrication processes, and refinements to current and upcoming MEMS process flows. Lead development of predictive analytics techniques leveraging both repeatable patterns in data and discovering new patterns that reduce cost, increase performance, and improve reliability for microphones. Define data structures, evaluate data quality, and perform appropriate data analyses using software such as JMP, Minitab, R, Python and MATLAB. Manage four engineers. 192,074/yr. 

Minimum Requirements Include: Master’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field and 2 years of experience as MEMS engineer managing MEMS process integration/transfer and characterization of MEMS devices. Experience must include: data mining; machine algorithms and predictive modeling algorithms; DOE setup; characterization experience in optical microscopy; surface science analysis; and electrical testing. Must have experience with the following tools and technologies: statistical analysis software such as JMP, Minitab, R, Python and MATLAB; semiconductor fabrication tools and equipment; FIB-SEM.

The position requires 5% international travel. Destination impossible to predict. Telecommute permitted within commuting distance to the office.
