Staff Engineer, MEMS Process sought by Knowles Electronics, LLC in Itasca, IL: 

Research, design, develop, or test microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) devices. Develop and implement process improvements designed to optimize the efficiency and productivity of our MEMS products. Develop MEMS technology for microphones and related platform applications. Lead development of predictive analytics techniques leveraging both repeatable patterns in data and discovering new patterns that reduce cost, increase performance, and improve reliability for microphones. Develop and analyze Design of Experiments (DOEs) in order to effectively test process corners to ensure margins for high volume applications. Interpret and analyze data from various mechanical, electrical, acoustic and optical characterization procedures on in-line and completed MEMS components to successfully determine and identify correlations between in-line metrics and final system performance. Contribute to the new fabrication processes, characterization methods and procedures and refinements to current and upcoming MEMS process flows. Collaborate with MEMS wafer foundries to ensure the seamless execution of new product introduction. Prepare reports summarizing the results of all MEMS process activities. $150,000/yr. 

Minimum Requirements Include: Master’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related technical field and 2 years of experience in MEMS or semiconductor process in volume applications for MEMS manufacturing industry. Experience must include: conducting advanced data mining and statistical analysis using predictive modeling algorithms and software such as JMP; leading MEMS process integration and process transfer, particularly in polysilicon/nitride systems; developing data models, reinforced, supervised and unsupervised learning methods; conducting characterization in optical microscopy, SEM, FIB, surface science analysis, interferometry, and electrical testing; applying unstructured and semi-structured data, requisite processing tools, electronics assembly flow and semiconductor fabrication tools and equipment.

The position requires 5% international travel. Destination impossible to predict. Telecommute permitted within commuting distance to the office.
