Job Description
Job Responsibilites30% Under general supervision, serves as a Data Processing Specialist for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) supporting the IL Department of Employment Security (IDES):
- Performs advanced production control and job analysis functions to ensure the timely and accurate processing of job schedules.
- Prepares, modifies, and sets up job control language inserting the necessary data and files as required for specific computer execution.
- Edits and balances reports necessary to successfully process production jobs in compliance with the Support Services master schedule.
- Submits production jobs in compliance with established procedures.
- Analyzes and/or monitors Job Control Language (JCL) listing with Houston Automated Spooling Priority (HASP) of jobs executed to determine if programs, procedures, and variable information were accepted and utilized as expected.
- Performs complex output edits and corrects job control language parameters.
- Assists with developing master production schedule.
25% Performs advanced diagnostic functions and utilizes problems solving and communication skills via user contact to resolve processing problems or failures:
- Utilizes the latest computer technology for maintaining the accurate completion of master processing schedules
- Logs job submissions and documents any incomplete jobs on reruns.
20% Maintains maximum performance of mainframe and personal computer (PC) based systems in:
- Updates submission of JCL utilizing online and database technologies via Time Sharing Option/System Productivity Facility (TSO/SPF).
- Validates JCL listings.
- Prepares reports and records in accordance with established procedures.
- Files microfiche and JCL listings.
15% Reviews, modifies, and establishes new or revised production documentation in accordance with established Support Services standards submitted by the Systems and Procedures Division.
5% Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field:
- Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars and conferences to increase familiarity with and maintain current on IT products, vendors, techniques and procedures.
- Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations.
5% Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
