Job Description
Job Responsibilities25% Under administrative direction, serves as the Metrics and Research Team supervisor for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), supporting the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS):
- Manages and coordinates the activities of professional data scientists and metrics staff.
- Provides expert consultation and advice to developers.
- Provides maintenance and ad hoc support for the Departmental metrics, dashboard, and data warehouse enterprise model, constructs, and data structures.
- Develops and coordinates problem definitions and procedures.
- Develops and oversees data usage methods, supplying necessary methods and integration to all internal and external data models.
- Utilizes Azure SQL data environment, Hadoop, MapReduce, BHase, R, Python, Pig, Java, JavaScript, XML, HTML, C#.Net, VB.Net, Crystal Reports, Visual Studio, and Team Foundation Server in the performance of duties.
- Directs the implementation of new and revised data access models, software, metrics, dashboards, and methods for the data warehouse development team.
20% Serves as working supervisor:
- Assigns and reviews work.
- Provides guidance and training to assigned staff.
- ounsels staff regarding work performance.
- Reassigns staff to meet day-to-day needs:
- Establishes annual goals and objectives.
- Approves/disapproves time off requests.
- Prepares and signs performance evaluations.
20% Provides input to the Associate Deputy Director of Data Analytics and Warehouse Management and Chief Information Officer regarding initiatives for data metrics, analytics, dashboard, and overall data warehouse improvement:
- Develops and implements new and revised policies and procedures regarding data warehouse development functions and monitors to ensure team compliance with same.
- Implements administrative rules and procedures and related laws in OITS developed data warehouse software and systems.
20% Manages and coordinates projects, engineering service requests, and tickets for data scientists and development engineers:
- Plans and develops techniques to accomplish major projects.
- Reviews and monitors projects to ensure they are successfully implemented in an efficient, timely manner and in accordance with Departmental priorities and IT industry standards.
- xercises highly substantial creativity and originality to drive data analytics to support enhanced information availability and design.
- Implements and validates cutting-edge algorithms to analyze diverse sources of data to achieve targeted outcomes.
5% Confers and consults with the Associate Deputy Director of Data Analytics and Warehouse Management and Data Integration and Reports Supervisor:
- Provides input into the overall data warehouse architecture and software model, maintenance, enhancements, and procurements.
5% Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field:
- Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars and conferences to increase familiarity with and maintain current on IT products, vendors, techniques and procedures.
- Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations.
5% Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
