Your role at Baxter

This position is part of the Ethics and Compliance (E&C) group, within Baxter's Legal Department, and reports to the Head of Global Investigations. As the Corporate Counsel you will lead and help conduct investigations globally and will help manage the E&C internal investigations program.

What you'll be doing

Conduct complex internal investigations related to employee misconduct in violation of Baxter's policies and procedures, including its Code of Conduct, and/or the laws and regulations of the U.S. and other countries in which Baxter operates. Investigations may relate to issues involving anti-corruption, financial fraud, conflicts of interest, interactions with third parties, and other types of corporate misconduct

Assist in the triage of all allegations and reports raised to E&C, including via the Company's E&C Helpline

Collaborate with and provide guidance to E&C investigation team members and Baxter colleagues in other functions, in the United States and abroad, during complex internal investigations and other projects

Assist with E&C due diligence stemming from the Company's M&A activity

Perform special E&C-related projects on an ad hoc basis

Contribute to the refinement, development, and documentation of compliance- and investigations-related processes to enhance the operational efficiency of the Investigations function and, in turn, enhance the implementation and execution of Baxter's global E&C Program

What you'll bring

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

A minimum of 5 years of practice, preferably with a mix of law firm experience with government or in-house experience

Experience conducting internal investigations of potential violations of legal/regulatory requirements and of corporate policies/expectations, occurring in the United States and abroad, and managing investigation workstreams, including managing internal team members and external resources (outside counsel, consultants, etc.)

Knowledge of and experience with anti-corruption and bribery matters is required, with exposure to U.S. and foreign enforcement or regulatory agencies preferred

Knowledge of and experience with pharmaceutical and medical device regulation preferred

Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload based on legal risk, work with minimal supervision, pay attention to detail, make sound judgments, and draft clear and concise investigation reports and other work product

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with business leaders

Fluency in English is required; Spanish capabilities are preferred

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for assignments as needed

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $176,000 to $242,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change.
