Job Description
Overview
Reporting to and partnering with the Chief Financial Officer, the Chief Accounting Officer (“CAO”) plays a critical leadership role with respect to the company’s financials. The CAO will have oversight of all Accounting, Reporting, Tax and Payroll / Shared Services functions. This position is responsible for the end-to-end accounting and financial reporting process, systems and technical accounting. The CAO will use technical, strategic and operational expertise as well as their strong leadership skills to serve as a key business partner to the CFO and broader Senior Management Team. The CAO will add value by proactively identifying and analyzing issues and communicating them to a diverse audience within the company. In addition, this role will present key company information to the Audit Committee of ATI’s Board of Directors.
Responsibilities
- Oversee timeliness, accuracy, and distribution of all necessary financial and management reporting for external and internal users
- Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures
- Oversee the Payroll & Shared Services function to ensure timely & accurate payroll and accounts payable processes and outputs
- Oversee direct reports and the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions
- Manage the streamlining and efficiency of accounting processes surrounding monthly, quarterly, and year end close cycles
- Implement new and improved/upgraded finance and accounting technology as needed
- Lead discussions and relationship with ATI’s external auditor and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors
- Oversee process for compliance as part of annual audits, both external audit and internal audit
- Proactively analyze US GAAP and other accounting standards’ evolution, and the impact on the organization going forward
- Oversee proper filing of tax and regulatory returns
- Communicate effectively with all levels of management, with emphasis on ability to seamlessly interact high-level with senior management and in the details with team members
- Responsible for successfully coordinating team activities, engagement, and development
- Responsible for annual review process & goals process for direct reports and oversight of annual review process & goals process for the broader team
- A strong planning mentality, and ability to design solutions and execute at a high level for success is necessary
- Lead and develop a team of 4 direct reports and approximately 17 team members, providing direct coaching and development and ensuring strong engagement across the team
- Proactively lead special projects as needed
- The ability to possess a high level of professionalism and integrity while maintaining the confidentiality of the office
Qualifications
Minimum Education
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree required in Accounting.
Preferred:
- CPA; Master’s Degree in a related discipline
Minimum Experience
Required:
- 10-15 years of management experience in accounting/finance (with minimum 3+ years of executive/senior level experience)
Preferred:
- Healthcare experience preferred
