Job Description

Systems Analyst III for BlueCross and BlueShield Association to perform application system design throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) utilizing multiple development methodologies including Waterfall, Agile and Iterative; validate and ensure that business requirements are thorough, detailed, and concise; manage data in databases using Data Warehousing platforms, including DB2, SQL query, ETL and back-end processing environment; perform business intelligence analysis using Cognos, Tableau and Data Marts, by performing data profiling, data quality analysis, and data analytics; interpret and write source-to-target mappings; ensure that all Systems Analysis (SA) artifacts follow EPMP guidelines and are developed, reviewed and approved; perform data modeling using SQL and Erwin; provide systems expertise to business stakeholders and serve as the SME for applications; perform data profiling, reference data management, governance, and end-to-end data lineage using Ab Initio tools; provide forecasts and detailed estimates for SA activities and artifacts; collaborate with stakeholders to analyze business requirements and current system behavior to create system design specification documentation, including functional specifications, system use cases, mock-ups, and design models; research customer issues and escalate risks/issues appropriately and in a timely manner; test and investigate issues to determine the appropriate resolution; ensure timesheets are completed accurately and time is reported regularly with the proper allocation of time spent on projects; participate in department standards/templates and skill development; serve as a coach/mentor to department staff on software systems; identify/vocalize areas for improvements by implementing process improvements and ensuring long term compliance; and contribute to the creation and maintenance of structured design methodologies and processes for the department.  Requires: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in applied computer science or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus seven (7) years of experience in systems analysis, including data analysis, profiling and governance using Ab Initio. Specific skills/other requirements - Experience must include (quantitative experience requirements not applicable to this section): application system design and SDLC implementation utilizing multiple development methodologies, including Waterfall, Agile and Iterative Data Warehousing platforms, including DB2, SQL Query, and ETL, in a back-end processing environment; Cognos, Tableau and Data Marts, data profiling, data quality analysis, and data analytics; interpreting and writing source-to-target mappings; data modeling and using a data modeling tool (e.g., Erwin); data profiling, reference data management, governance, and end-to-end data lineage; translating business requirements to design specification documentation, including functional specifications, system use cases, mock-ups, and design models.
