Job Description

BDO USA, P.C. (FKA BDO USA, P.A.) seeks Experienced Tax Manager in Chicago, IL.

Job Duties: Lead tax and compliance engagements. Conduct top level review of tax returns and resolve all tax issues with client. Plan and recognize material tax and compliance issues and consult with the client and/or partner, as appropriate. Identify complex issues to be researched by engagement team and provide research methodology for efficient research process. Train managers and help to appropriately frame tax issues for analysis. Correctly and proactively apply Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (TQM). Lead the process of development, recommendation and implementation of efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing clients’ current and future taxes. Supervise Managers, Associates and Senior Associates.

Job Requirements: Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, Tax, Business Administration or related field and one (1) year of experience in the job offered, or as Tax Associate/Associate or related. Alternatively, employer will accept a Bachelor’s (or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, Tax, Business Administration or related field plus five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered, as Tax Associate/Associate or related.

Must have experience with the following skills: Tax planning, recommendation of tax strategies and tax preparation projects, including budgeting and planning; Using tax research databases such as BNA and RIA; Using tax compliance process software: GoFileRoom, GoSystemRS, Caseware or BNA Depreciation Software; Corporate taxation, consolidations and partnerships; and Managing tax professionals.

Must have: CPA certification; OR Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) license; OR sufficient educational/experience requirements (as determined by state Board of Accountancy for CPA or by the Internal Revenue Service for EA) to receive CPA or EA within 24 months of hire or promotion; OR be a member of a US state bar.
