    Position Summary

    Reporting to the EHS Manager, the Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist has responsibility for planning, communicating and implementing the organization's environment, health, and safety programs to ensure a safe, healthy and accident-free work environment. Provides safety support for three facilities and a remote field service team.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal OSHA rules and regulations.
    • Ensures managers and employees are trained in worksite safety practices, fire prevention and correct handling techniques for machinery, equipment and chemicals.
    • Conducts new hire safety orientations.
    • Ensures required safety training is completed by all employees.
    • Prepares studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
    • Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures are implemented.
    • Participates in the investigation of accidents and injuries ensuring robust root cause and corrective actions are implemented.
    • Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
    • Maintains safety files and records.
    • Supports and mentors Safety Committee.
    • Drives continuous improvement and streamlining of processes and procedures.
    • Leads and manages special projects, which may be large or of a significant scale, as assigned.
    • Maintains confidentiality of employment and workers compensation medical records.


    Requirements:

    Education/Experience

    • Bachelor Degree in Occupational Safety, Human Resources or other related degree from an accredited college or university.
    • Minimum 2 years proven job-related experience in environmental, health and/or safety professional work.
    • Prior experience in a manufacturing / industrial environment strongly desired

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Knowledge of OSHA regulations required.
    • Strong communication skills; verbal, written as well as listening skills. Able to successfully communicate to various levels within the organization as well as be comfortable speaking in public.
    • Possess strong IT skills (such as MS Office, Word, Powerpoint, etc.)
    • Possess a high level of professionalism when interacting with employees, management, or outside individuals.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and successfully juggle competing priorities.
    • Possess a high level of attention to detail & accuracy
    • Possess strong influencing skills and ability to motivate employees and leaders to follow safety protocols.
    • Possess problem solving and creative thinking skills.
    • Possess strong integrity and ethical standards.
