Position Title: Automation Technician

Description:

The purpose of the job is to support the engineering department in various mechanical, electrical, electronics, and/or software application automation projects. The position provides end user support in installation and training of automation technologies. This role will be responsible to perform preventive maintenance, trouble shoot equipment and exchange faulty parts when needed.

Primary Tasks:

  • Reviews design drawings, user manual and installation manual.
  • To maintain automation equipment in excellent condition ensuring consistent quality, output and yield.
  • Follow systematic root cause problem solving and troubleshooting to resolve issues.
  • Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance, completing all associated paperwork and records.
  • Keep equipment under calibration and coordinate equipment shipment to external OEMs if require.
  • Assist with the commissioning of new equipment / projects.
  • Order and maintain appropriate stock of spare parts.
  • Cross Train technicians as required.
  • Generate engineering reports to equipment’s manufacturer to support trouble shooting.

Secondary Tasks:

  • Works closely with internal or external operators on training of the designed equipment.
  • Works closely with Project Manager/Engineer/Operations to meet project time line and budget.
  • With the support from Industrial Engineering, implement process improvements to achieve a more efficient operation.
  • With the support from the technical writers, generate Operational procedures and work instructions.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications:

Education:

  • Current student of Engineering or junior engineer (Electrical/Electronics, Mechanical).
  • Or degree as electronics, electrical or electro-mechanical technician with 5-10 years’ experience in automated equipment management.
  • Experience in high volume automation / robotics. Packaging and kitting.
  • Experience in Pneumatics, Electronics, Hydraulics, Programmable Controllers, Servo Motor drives, Vision systems, workshop machining desirable.
