Wieland is hiring a Maintenance Tech Specialist - Welder. The responsibility of the Maintenance Tech Specialist - Welder is making the complicated decisions on how welding repair is to proceed and perform quality repairs the first time. The Maintenance Tech Specialist is additionally responsible for leading the completion of more complicated and specialized welding troubleshooting and repair tasks. This role will reside at our East Alton, IL facility.
Starting Pay: $41.50/hourly
Pay Schedule: Bi-Weekly
Work Schedule: Swing Shift (1st, 2nd & 3rd on rotating weeks)
Responsibilities
Maintenance Tech Specialist - Welder Responsibilities:
Work together with and/or leads the operating crew to minimize downtime and to maximize productivity.
Responsible for making the complicated decisions on how a welding repair is to proceed AND perform quality repairs the first time
Responsible for leading the completion of more complicated and specialized welding troubleshooting AND repair tasks
Work with the production team for constant improvement
Perform administrative duties as assigned including completion of work order documentation and data entry into the computerized maintenance system
Maintenance Tech Specialist - Welder Requirements:
Minimum of five years heavy industrial/maintenance experience or a four year apprenticeship certification required
Heavy gauge structural welding, alloy steel (stainless steel, other alloy steel and copper alloys) welding, and heavy wall pipe welding skills considered a MUST
Experience with performing field welds on heavy fabrications and necessary repairs is required
Experience with mounting and setting equipment (rigging experienced desired), repairing mechanical transmission equipment, repairing fluid power systems, general equipment breakdown maintenance, and heavy equipment experience is required
Experience with large drive train systems including gearboxes, drive spindles, and sleeve bearings is considered a plus
Experience with fabricating of heavy gauge weldments and repair of metal products using Mig Welders, Tig Welders, Arc Welding, or Stick Welding is required
Understanding of infrared, acoustics and other predictive maintenance practices is considered a plus
