Job Description

Scope

This is a non-exempt position in which a person performs routine tasks as directed by the Construction Manager. As a first level trainee work is checked by others in process and upon completion. The Construction Project Manager may assign the technician to a construction project to serve as a construction observer to make field measurements, documentation entries and read & interpret plans.

Principal Responsibilities

Basic field inspection, testing and documentation
Duties may also include on site or laboratory testing of soils, concrete and hot mix asphalt
Attend training to achieve various certifications
Operate company vehicles
Maintain equipment and vehicles
Observe safety and security procedures
Must be able to work as part of a team
Must always maintain professional conduct
All other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to read a tape measure in both fractions and tenths
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

Education and Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Entry-level position; requires 0 to 2 years related field experience
Valid driver's license required with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier

Physical Requirements:

Regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds over rugged and uneven terrain
Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear.
Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Occasionally required to sit
