Description:

The Building Services Foreman performs duties that ensure that the Student Centers and its related facilities are properly cleaned, maintained and set-up for routine and use. This position is generally under supervision and shall be responsible for assigning and the directing the work performances of Housekeepers and Building Services Workers staff.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Assign, control and direct the work performances of assigned housekeepers and building service workers.
Perform housekeeping work including but not limited to such tasks as mopping, waxing, sweeping, scrubbing and polishing floors, cleaning and waxing furniture, and collecting and disposing of refuse.
Moving furniture and equipment from one part of the building to another.
Set-up furniture and equipment according to diagrams and directions provided by the Office of Meetings and Conferences staff and Building Operations managers.
Disassemble and return furniture and equipment as directed.
Determine and employ corrective measures to achieve and maintain satisfactory performance.
Train employees in established and effective housekeeping methods and techniques.
Participate in training new housekeepers and building service workers and ongoing training for all housekeepers and building services workers as needed and when requested by the supervisor(s).
Adhere to prescribed safe practices and precautions. Using effective lighting, signage and barricades within fire code and safety requirements.
Provide daily on-line shift reports of work activities and completion of tasks or reasons for not completing tasks. Include all staffing concerns, absences, tardiness, call in times and reasons for the aforementioned infractions. Reports also include training needs, supplies used and shortages, and equipment needs.
Observe and report to supervisors the condition of equipment and building areas that need attention.
Procure, distribute and be responsible for security of operating equipment and supplies.
Provide ongoing feedback regarding employee development and assist with employee training and evaluation as requested.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:


High school graduation or equivalent.
Three (3) years (36 months) of experience in building custodial work.
