While reporting directly to the VP of Mortgage, as the Director Mortgage Operations, you will be responsible for continuous process optimization and improvement initiatives.
Location: This is a hybrid / flex position based in Northern Illinois. 2-3 days/week onsite at our Lake Forest corporate office; remaining days are work from home. Local Northern IL/Southeast WI candidates only!
Main Responsibilities:
Ongoing workflow design and system optimization from application to closing. You'll partner with end users of the platforms to identify gaps and opportunities to improve system utilization and ease of use for internal and external end users.
Adapting the Credit Union's credit risk and underwriting approach based on current market conditions and affordability changes. You'll monitor delinquencies and performance for real estate loans regardless of whether they were sold or held in the Credit Union's portfolio. You'll also be responsible for the Credit Union's portfolio real estate underwriting guidelines.
Develop and maintain reporting and appropriate scorecards to closely monitor performance metrics across all roles and key results within mortgage lending. You'll collaborate with the Business Intelligence team as needed to access data and establish the appropriate dashboards.
Collaborate with key business leaders to develop future state solutions to enable internal team members to meet and exceed member needs.
Seek internal and external input about member experience. You'll recognize, escalate, and act when work processes, procedures, or policy issues may impact the members or employees.
Partner with the System Administrators to ensure smooth implementation of software updates, and proactively communicate the updates to internal end users.
Establish and maintain real estate loan policies and program guidelines.
Ensure compliance with all federal and state laws, rules, and regulations including credit union policies and procedures relevant to the mortgage lending division.
Plan, oversee, and lead the work of the team to meet functional and individual operational objectives and goals. You'll coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities. Responsible for staffing decisions and performance management of team.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or related.
10+ years' experience in Mortgage Operations Management. Strong knowledge of industry products, policies, and procedures, underwriting requirements, conventional and government loan requirements, operations, and compliance requirements.
5+ years' experience in Change Management. Proven track record of effectively leading through change.
5+ years' people management experience.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with others, directly and indirectly, influencing positive outcomes.
Highly proficient critical and strategic thinking skills.
Customer-centric and people first focused.
Digital acumen for Home Lending strongly preferred.
