Job Description

The Area: The Information Security department is responsible for setting enterprise security policies and standards designed to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Morningstar information. The security team offers guidance and technical expertise in areas like application security, policies and procedures, disaster recovery, and compliance/regulation. We analyze emerging security threats and conduct risk and vulnerability assessments to ensure that our information and systems remain secure.

The Role: The Information Security team is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Data Analyst to join our team. You will play a crucial role in analyzing the various sources of data we collect, including vulnerability data, incidents, security logs, and threat alerts and trends from security tools. Your insights and analyses will be instrumental in enhancing our organization's overall security posture. The ideal candidate will work closely with business, product, and technology leads, providing valuable input and influencing decisions with meaningful metrics, scorecards, and dashboards.

Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Information Security team members to understand their responsibilities, reporting needs and requirements for enhancing security measures
Develop and deploy Business Intelligence (BI) solutions to visualize and analyze security-related data
Create and maintain reporting mechanisms, scorecards, and dashboards that effectively communicate security metrics to various stakeholders
Use data analysis tools to draw insights and create recommendations that help teams improve their security practices and prioritizesecurity remediations
Collaborate with IT teams to ensure the integration of security data into existing BI platforms and data repositories
Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations for executive leadership, providing key insights into the organization's security posture
Stay updated on best practices, emerging technologies, and trends in Business Intelligence and Analytics within the context of Information Security
Contribute to the continuous improvement of data analytics processes and methodologies within the Information Security domain
Assist with documenting and regularly reviewing Information Security policies and procedures related to metrics and reporting

Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in Data Science, Mathematics/Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
Proven experience in a similar role as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst
Proficiency in developing and deploying Business Intelligence and Analytic solutions
Familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar data visualization platforms
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and switch priorities with short notice
Familiarity with security-related data sources and the ability to integrate them into analytical frameworks is a plus
Statistical or mathematical skills or experience is a plus
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical information into understandable insights for non-technical stakeholdersstrongly preferred
