Job Description

Mueller Water Products, the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries, is seeking a Supply Chain Manager at our Decatur Illinois location. The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for directing all the Supply Chain operations on the site(s). This includes inventory management (raw materials, packaging and finished goods), third party freight management, performance reporting and process improvements for the overall Supply plans of the manufacturing facility or facilities. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the technical capability to use and promote Supply Chain technologies are needed to be successful in this role.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Lead continuous process improvement initiatives for Supply Chain and Supply planning.
  • Work directly with other facility Supply Chain Managers as well as with the corporate based logistics Manager on process improvements, savings opportunities and cost avoidance initiatives.
  • Communicate Supply Chain opportunities, issues and recommendations for resolutions; Monitors performance and recommends action plans to ensure inventory targets and customer service are achieved.
  • Partner with production to ensure strategic timing and accurate delivery of daily production orders.
  • Manage and optimizes operational activity of the manufacturing warehouse including storage, handling, inventory control and alignment and primary and secondary transportation.
  • Maintain department expenses within a defined budget for outbound freight, inbound freight and warehousing. Defines the plant Supply Chain costs for budgeting purposes.
  • Collaborate with production and Supply scheduling to set inventory goals for finished goods and supplies necessary for manufacturing. Carries out inventory usage. Follows inventory exception alerts on a daily basis. Prepares, assists and controls all necessary documentation and reports.
  • Supervise distribution and shipping functions. Collaborates between shipping and freight carriers to ensure timely truck arrivals, preparation and departures. Conducts inbound/outbound freight negotiations and approves freight and fleet invoices for payment. Supervises inventories of supplies and finished goods.
Required Skills:

Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in a relevant field of work or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience.

Required Experience:

Eight (8) or more years progressive work related experience with demonstrated proficiency in multiple disciplines/technologies/processes related to the position as well as 3 to 5 years managing teams and/or significant projects.
