Mercyhealth, an award-winning fully integrated health care delivery organization based in Wisconsin and Illinois, is seeking a Physician Assistant or a Nurse Practitioner certified as a first assist to join our Neurosurgery practice at our new, state-of-the-art facility, Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford, IL.

Opportunity:
Provide quality health care services to patients in the clinic and hospital setting under the direction and supervision of department neurosurgeons by performing the following duties in a compassionate and cost-effective manner.
Examine patients, perform comprehensive physical examinations, and compile patient medical data, including health history and results of examination in both hospital and clinic settings.
Administer and/or order appropriate diagnostic tests, laboratory tests appropriate for neurosurgical patients and interpret test results for deviations from normal. Perform therapeutic procedures including suture removal and wound care management.
Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, complete discharge summaries, and assist in provision of continuity of care.
Assist neurosurgeon with in-patient hospital rounds and emergency department consultations.
Perform first-assistant duties in the operating room.
May be required to work flexible hours.

Qualifications:
Experienced or newly graduated PAs are welcome to apply
If NP, must also be certified as a first assist
Graduate of an accredited PA or NP program
Hold valid IL APRN or PA license
Other certifications as required
Highly collaborative and self-motivated
Ability to work very well with neurosurgery team and other partners
Strong communication skills when working with patients, patient families, and coworkers
