Job Summary

Illinois State University's Milner Library seeks an innovative, forward-thinking, and collaborative Outreach and Student Engagement Librarian for a renewable 12-month, non-tenure-track faculty position. The Outreach and Student Engagement Librarian, reporting to the Head of Instruction and Student Engagement, focuses on outreach initiatives and programming that promote academic success and lifelong learning for Illinois State students, faculty, staff and the wider campus community. Primarily the Outreach and Student Engagement Librarian will collaborate with key areas/programs/services across the University. This highly collaborative position will work closely with the Student Success Librarian and the Director of Marketing and Communications. With student learning and teaching as a main focus, outreach efforts closely link to established information fluency competencies, learning outcomes, and various data to inform programming, initiatives, and assessment. Responsibilities for this position include:

• Plans, implements, and evaluates a diverse range of outreach initiatives, programming, and instructional support services primarily targeted at prospective and current undergraduate students.
• Collaborates with partners within academic programs and student services, such as the Honors College, Admissions, Career Services, Events Management, Dining, and Housing (EMDH), and Athletic Study Center to support student success.
• Participates in campus outreach and engagement programming and events that support student recruitment, academic preparedness, and retention.
• Provides instructional support for and teaches information fluency-focused instruction in a variety of formats (in-person, hybrid, and online) to students and faculty via workshops, courses, and training.
• Assists in the development and assessment of student learning outcomes to support continuous improvement of student learning and engagement.
• Participates as an active member of the Instruction and Student Engagement team to support and implement departmental initiatives, projects, and goals such as developing and maintaining digital learning objects, developing and facilitating student workshops, and participating in programming for foundational courses.
• Coordinate the Milner Library Student Ambassador program with departmental colleagues and provide support and supervision of student employees.
• Provides research assistance and consultation services in-person and virtually (e.g., chat and/or email).
• Participates in and serves on Library committees and working groups.
