Job Description

Laborers Local 477 supports Sangamon, Christian, Logan, Menard, Morgan, Scott & Cass counties. Instructors are dedicated to giving quality training in everything from Asbestos Abatement, General Construction, and Hazardous Waste Removal. They train more than 5,500 Union Laborers a year and offer an apprenticeship program to qualified men and women who are interested in a career as a construction craft laborer with all the advantages of the Laborers' Union…good wages, great health and welfare benefits and lots of advancement opportunities. Apprentices are paid a progressively increasing schedule of wages consistent with skills and knowledge acquired. The rate for each period is shown as a percentage of the skilled Construction Craft Laborer journey worker rate as specified in the collective bargaining agreement. All apprentices are required to obtain 1,000 hours of on-job-training, as well as 160 hours of related training each year of the program to wage progress to the next level. Trainee lodging will be provided to all students who are accepted into program to attend 40-hour classes at any of the four ILCJATP Facilities.
