Solution Architect

PRIMARY PURPOSE : To design and oversee the software architecture of the company’s claims systems; to evaluate and consult with departments regarding applications and system needs; to determine solutions; to ensure integrity throughout all claims-related applications; and to direct the development and support the implementation and maintenance of claims-related applications ensuring compatibility and alignment with IT strategies and infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Determines and directs implementation of long-term strategies for maintaining claims systems’ data and application integrity.

+ Develops overall designs and defines projects for implementation of strategic technology initiatives by collaborating with management and colleagues throughout the company.

+ Consults with project managers from various practice groups to keep informed of active and future projects and identifies areas of overlap.

+ Assists in implementation of large client programs involving numerous interfaces or system modifications.

+ Manages a team of business and technology analysts involved in researching strategic and tactical initiatives; facilitates team colleagues’ development.

+ Reviews software change requests to identify duplication, similarities and feasibility; specifies action to be taken.

+ Directs prioritization of tactical and strategic change requests.

+ Advises claims systems’ management and team leaders of upcoming strategic initiatives; schedules projects for development based on resource availability; and stays abreast of strategic project development.

+ Assists in projecting software and hardware requirements for claims-related applications.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Performs other duties as assigned.

+ Supports the organization’s quality program(s).

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing

Bachelor’s degree with major in Information Systems or Management from an accredited college or university preferred.

Experience

Ten (10) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required to include eight (8) years of software and development and four (4) years project management experience. Extensive hands-on programming experience in database and data-driven applications strongly preferred.
