Job Description

AECOM Water is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our growing Chicago, IL office. This role will lead and support design efforts for a variety of water infrastructure projects including treatment facilities, pump stations, and conveyance.

Job Description:

+ Approves and signs off on design and construction phase work.

+ Presents complex technical solutions to clients.

+ Participates in development of technical proposals.

+ Design low voltage and medium voltage electrical distribution systems and building services.

+ Prepare and develop engineering studies, reports, calculations, designs, specifications, and construction cost estimates in compliance with applicable code and standard requirements.

+ Establish electrical equipment performance parameters based on project requirements and coordinate with equipment vendors to refine preliminary selections.

+ Use computer software as a tool to solve engineering problems.

+ Manage designs during construction including shop drawing review, information request response, and punch list generation.

+ Provide quality assurance oversight and independent quality control reviews to support deliverables developed by others including calculations, plans, specifications, and engineering reports.

+ Develop engineering fee estimates, assist with technical proposal preparation, and participate in client presentations.

+ Direct the efforts of junior engineers, graphics staff, and interns.

+ Work within a project team environment, interfacing and coordinating with other disciplines and design team members.

+ Collaborate with design professionals and project managers in other US offices. Occasionally collaborate internationally.

+ Occasional light local and national travel to project sites.

+ Experienced with large, multidisciplinary projects in a lead engineering role.

+ Interested in and capable of managing, mentoring, and recruiting engineering and support staff.

+ Perform electrical system designs including:

+ Switchgears,

+ Switchboards,

+ Motor control centers,

+ Variable frequency drives,

+ Generators, transformers,

+ Distribution panels, and

+ Other electrical distribution systems components.

+ Perform design for lighting, fire alarm, telephone, security and grounding systems.

+ Prepare design drawings including single line diagrams, electrical plans, wiring schematics, schedules, etc.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirement:

+ BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications:

+ 8+ years of Electrical design experience, preferably relating to water treatment facilities, pump stations, or water infrastructure.

+ Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Illinois, or ability to become licensed through reciprocity. Maintains an NCEES Credential Record.

+ Proficient with electrical design software, including AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, and Amp Calc.

+ ?Capable of technical standards development.

+ Interested in and experienced with project management ranging from small, discipline specific type to larger multidiscipline type.

+ Highly motivated self-directed professional.

+ Proven problem solver able to grasp complex concepts readily.

+ Ability to apply passion and leadership in a collaborative and progressive team-oriented work environment.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $130,000 to $180,000.
