Overview

Pactiv Evergreen is a leading food and beverage manufacturer with locations throughout North America. To support this commitment, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Regional, Environmental, Health and Safety Manager to oversee EHS initiatives and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.

EHS Program Development and Implementation:

+ Develop and implement EHS programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as company standards.

+ Conduct regular assessments of EHS risks and hazards and collaborate with site EHS and plant managers to develop mitigation strategies, improve performance and reduce risk.

+ Provide guidance and support to ensure consistent implementation of EHS programs

Training and Education:

+ Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees and managers to raise awareness of EHS issues and promote best practices as needed.

+ Ensure all employees receive appropriate training on safety procedures, emergency response protocols, and environmental regulations.

Compliance Monitoring and Reporting:

+ Monitor compliance with EHS regulations and company policies, conducting regular audits and inspections as needed. This includes supporting and participating within the scope of the corporate assessment program.

+ Support data and compliance monitoring through the EHS data management system (Gensuite).

+ Prepare and submit required regulatory reports and documentation accurately and on time.

+ Assist facilities with the investigation of incidents, accidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Stakeholder Engagement:

+ Serve as the primary point of contact for EHS-related inquiries from regulatory agencies, customers, and other external stakeholders, as needed.

+ Collaborate with corporate EHS teams and functional leads to align business unit initiatives with company-wide objectives and standards.

Continuous Improvement:

+ Identify opportunities for process improvements and risk reduction initiatives to enhance EHS performance.

+ Stay informed about emerging EHS trends, regulations, and best practices, and incorporate relevant changes into regional programs and procedures.

+ Support the implementation of the Pactiv Evergreen Performance System.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

+ Significant experience in EHS compliance with a specific focus on environmental, health, and safety knowledge.

+ Experience in leading indirect multi-functional teams.

+ Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.

+ 30-50 % travel is expected.

+ 7 yrs. Professional/Leadership EHS experience (Manufacturing experience a plus).

+ Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work product, both that which is produced by the individual and that of the team, often requiring the adherence to tight deadlines.

+ Excellent communicator who can communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing and can clearly convey information in an emergency situation.

+ Strong relationship building, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to interact patiently, respectfully, and with cultural sensitivity, at all levels of an organization on sensitive security issues.

+ Critical thinker with strong analytical skills and sound judgment.

+ Ability to balance a “roll up your sleeves” approach to day-to-day work while serving as a strategic partner to corporate organization.

+ Strong personal character, an individual who can maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and exhibits unquestionable integrity, honesty, and forthrightness.

+ Client-service focus and ability to respond promptly to security inquiries in a courteous and professional manner.

+ Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies, many of whom may have limited or no understanding of risk management or safety/security.

+ Strong work ethic and desire for personal and professional development.

+ Assesses own strengths and weaknesses; pursues training and development opportunities; strives to continuously build knowledge and skills.

+ Strong organizational skills to include: Tracking, coordination across multiple programs, effective reporting of status and results to executive level management.

+ Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of management systems (ISO 14001 and 45001 experience preferred).

+ Effective communication skills (written and verbal), team building and demonstrated leadership skills with all levels in the organization.
