What You Will Do:

As the Manager, Distribution (3rd Shift), you will supervise hourly personnel in the receipt, processing, packaging, storage, order-filling, and shipment of parts to Caterpillar Dealers and Distribution Centers to support the end users of Caterpillar equipment. The position is responsible for all personnel issues within the team including coaching, mentoring, performance evaluation, and disciplinary action of employees.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

+ Supervising hourly personnel to ensure safe completion of assigned tasks in accordance with established processes.

+ Providing necessary on the job training while contributing to the development of an effective workforce by engaging and mentoring employees.

+ Improving People, Quality, Velocity, and Cost (PQVC) metrics by taking ownership of area processes.

+ Planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reviewing work of staff.

+ Leading teams focused on problem resolution process improvement.

+ Maintaining high employee morale by ensuring established work standards are delivered upon.

+ Ensuring parts inventory is received, processed, and stored in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.

+ Responding to customer requests and taking actions for issue resolution.

+ Providing training and coaching to correct any unsafe behavior.

+ Ensuring that employees have the proper equipment to perform their jobs safely.

+ Preparing and maintaining necessary paperwork for hourly payroll and attendance records.

+ Conducting grievance meetings with employees and union representatives.

+ Daily review of area performance reports and performing root cause analysis and taking corrective actions to address performance gaps.

+ Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time.

Oversees key issues and aspects of materials management activities, including the handling, transportation, and storage. Facilitates the use of different types of automated storage and retrieval systems. Develops requirements and procedures for hazardous material transportation safety regulations. Works with difficult or unusual materials handling and management situations. Evaluates the efficiency of materials handling and management, makes improvements where necessary. Guides others on key features and considerations for materials management, such as storage control systems.

+ Problem Management Process: Knowledge of manufacturing problem management processes, methodologies, and techniques; ability to use a disciplined approach to bringing that problem to a successful resolution. Uses a specific discipline or approach to problem solving and resolution. Records common problems and associated resolution alternatives. Monitors problem resolution and provides feedback to customer. Implements the established procedures for handling non-standard or unusual problems. Works with features of problem reporting and tracking software.

+ Warehouse Management: Knowledge of the policies, processes, and systems of warehouse management; ability to effectively manage one or more warehouses or distribution centers. Maintains warehouse equipment and facilities. Performs basic warehousing activities such as receiving, putting away, picking, packing, and shipping merchandise.
