The Senior Data Analytics Consultant will be responsible for helping execute the data analytics program for Internal Audit in the US Region. This includes data analytic projects and continuous monitoring procedures executed with consistency to support the US Internal Audit team as they execute the audit plan.

Responsibilities:

+ Assist in implementation of data analytic program for US Internal Audit to foster and grow data analytic usage through its maturity stages, in coordination with the overall CIBC Internal Audit Department data analytic program

+ Promote use of advanced analytics and automation methods and techniques across all US audit portfolios through delivery of proof-of-concept engagements, demonstrations, and education and information sessions

+ Recommend, in coordination w types of analytics and procedures to apply to meet audit objectives

+ Partner with auditors to understand their analytics needs and requirements, develop knowledge of related key processes that are under consideration, and manage associated relations

+ Perform data analyses to answer audit team hypothesis, business challenges, especially value creation risks and opportunities, and strategic questions

+ Analyze complex data, identify anomalies, and provide useable insight to internal and external customers

+ Manage own project timelines and escalate challenges/constraints to management

+ Support internal audit annual risk assessment and planning activities

+ Communicate data analytic conclusions to internal audit and business, with assistance from Data Analytics team management

+ Establish relationships within all three lines of defense, including support functions

+ Demonstrate in-depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge

+ Demonstrate ability to assimilate new knowledge

+ Possess good business acumen, staying current with data analytic techniques/technology

Qualifications:

+ A combination of business knowledge, technical skills, people skills, and the ability to follow a data strategy.

+ Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in computer science, data analytics, engineering, accounting, finance or a related field

+ 3+ years of relevant experience using business intelligence tools and databases, applying advanced analytics and data reporting techniques

+ Advanced knowledge and experience with MS Office, particularly Excel

+ Knowledge of data analysis and database management tools, in particular SAP BusinessObjects, SQL, Cognos, Power BI, Tableau, Python, and/or knowledge of CIBC data sources, applications, and system platforms

+ Ability and comfort level to assist in research of emerging risks, including regulations, industry practices, and new technologies

+ Demonstrated problem solver and strategic thinker, such as identifying tests that can be applied across several audits/areas

+ Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)

+ Strong organization skills to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously

Preferred Job Qualifications:

+ Professional certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Business Intelligence, CPA, CA, CIA, CFE, CISA)

+ Data analytics tools certifications (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Python)

+ Consultative approach; prior experience with recognized consulting firm

+ Project management, internal audit and/or business process experience

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $90,000 – $120,000 for the New York, New York market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
