Responsibilities

Salaries STARTING at $40/hr. POSITION SUMMARY: Focuses primarily on RN to RN screenings for all admissions and ensures patients are physically appropriate and safe for admission. Responds to inquiry calls regarding services. Provides appropriate information and referrals. Knowledgeable and able to explain Hospital programs and services. Completes Medical Screening Evaluations on all patients who present for an assessment. Provides first-aid and medical care as needed. Trains other staff on the admission process, policies and procedures. Assures compliance with all applicable laws, codes, rules and regulations that pertain to psychiatric admissions. Has a strong understanding of the department computer systems. Qualifications JOB SPECIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Education: Associates Degree from a valid Nursing program required, Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or higher preferred E xperience: 1+ year(s) experience working within an inpatient mental health field preferred, and strong prior experience with med-surg nursing and/or providing medical clearance for patients. Licensure/Certification: IL Registered Nurse licensure Supervision Received: Directors of Emergency Services and Nursing, Assistant Director, Lead Clinician and/or Supervisor Supervision Exercised: None Line of Promotion: Lead or Supervisor Working Conditions: Works in the Emergency Services Department, the inpatient units and other areas of the Hospital. Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste. General hospital environment. Physical Requirements: Ability to proficiently communicate verbally and in writing. Physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching and stooping.
