SUMMARY
The Environmental Project Engineer is responsible for managing diverse environmental issues confronting Ryder operations. The Environmental Engineering programs are designed to identify, evaluate and control risk, reduce cost, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the Ryder suite of vehicle related business operations including vehicle maintenance facilities and warehouses. Project Volume exceeds on going management of 150+ environmental and construction projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Manage Fuel Storage Tank Projects:
Direct activities of contractors, Consultants, Project managers and suppliers necessary to complete new fuel tank installations, upgrades and removals cost effectively and in compliance with Ryder & regulatory requirements
Manage environmental projects consistent with Ryder accounting, financial reporting guidelines and to achieve maximum reimbursement from State Trust Fund Reimbursement programs
Supervise environmental cleanup projects:
Manage environmental site assessment, subsurface investigations, groundwater monitoring, and site remediation projects; direct activities of contractors and consultants, project management & technical oversight related to property clean-up & remediation projects, waste water, storm water management, and subsurface soil and groundwater investigations.
Manage Environmental Capital and Environmental Reserve budgets, including developing budgets and obtaining approvals in accordance with company capital authority policies.
Manage supplier qualifications and the competitive bidding processes for services related to environmental consulting, contracting and laboratory services.
Oversee repair & maintenance of Ryder fueling infrastructure to minimize long term costs, maximize system uptime, and extend useful life. Direct implementation of SPCC and other petroleum storage related regulatory requirements.
Research storage tank regulations and remain current on environmental regulations to ensure compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations.
Provide environmental technical support and solutions to Ryder fleet management field organization. Support fleet maintenance initiatives – DEF, automated fueling, alternative fuels, and lubrication equipment system design and installation management
Direct environmental consultants and perform Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments to support Ryder’s due diligence associated with property and company acquisitions intended to identify and manage environmental conditions incident to acquisition/occupancy and disposition.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree Engineering or Geological Sciences.
Master’s degree Related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Five (5) years or more experience in facility site and building plan designs, project budgeting, permitting processes, bid processes, contractor management, contract administration , overall project management in a national or regional operating environment
Five (5) years or more experience must include familiarity with A/A forms and procedures, contractor performance and payment bonds and contractor warranty performance
SKILLS
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices
Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors).
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment.
Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills.
KNOWLEDGE
Familiarity with Transportation and Environmental Laws impacting the Transportation and fueling industry ; inermediate level.
Proven track record of building and motivating regional/national contractor, engineering, lab, and supplier project management teams to deliver cost effective, timely, and successful project results.
Experienced in managing site assessment and remediation project post UST removals.
Confident and experienced in collaborating and interfacing with state/local environmental regulatory agencies.
LICENSES
Other Registered professional geologist or environmental engineer, preferred.

Salary is determined based on internal equity; internal salary ranges; market
data/ranges; applicant’s skills; prior relevant experience; certain degrees or
certifications, etc. The salary for this position ranges from $70K to $100K
