JOB DUTIES:

This position is responsible for setting up and adjusting various sizes of dies into hydraulic and mechanical presses as well as upset machines to ensure parts are produced within specification. In addition, the position will require analyzing specifications, laying out metal stock, setting up tools, fitting and assembling parts to make and repair dies for upsetter operations, and fitting and assembling parts to make and repair compression rings for press operations.

  • Ensure that all dies are pre-staged at the press/upset die area location and that all dies are set properly according to the setup sheets.
  • Study blueprints or specifications to plan sequences of operations for assembling dies.
  • Fit and assemble/disassemble parts to make, repair, or modify compression rings using die press, die furnace, or machine tools or hand tools.
  • File, grind, shim, and adjust different parts to properly fit them together.
  • Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; make adjustments as necessary.
  • Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
  • Lift, position, and secure machines parts on worktable using crane hoists.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe metal to lay out in waiting area using a heated stamping tool.
  • Use various tooling (hand tools, welders, grinders etc.)
  • Work closely with Die Shop by providing information needed by die makers to accurately diagnose and repair dies.
  • Participate in continuous improvements and assist in their implementation on an ongoing basis.
  • Complete housekeeping duties in assigned area or project area daily and/or when required.
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures
  • Performs other duties as required.
