Design electrical control interfaces and interlocks between press and customer automation, remote

devices or monitors. Discuss application details with customers and ensure compliance with all US

machine safety standards and regulations (ANSI BII and OSHA), electrical codes and design practices.

Create BOM’s and coordinate with local material suppliers as required

Key Job Responsibilities

1. Design electrical control interface or interlock systems between press and customer automation equipment or

other customer specified and/or supplied devices.

2. Meet with customer to determine specific application requirements for interfaces or interlocks and ensure

such requirements are in full compliance with US safety standards and regulations; not limited to only ANSI B11

or OSHA regulations. Recommend any safety or additional guarding requirements necessary to comply with

such regulations to meet customers requested application.

3. Create detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) and supporting CAD drawings. Coordinate BOM requirements with

Parts Department for components and enclosures necessary. Coordinate with Service Department if assembly

or construction of interface boxes is required.

4. Modify press circuit diagrams showing any circuit modifications required. Create in CAD and place or

replace in machine manuals in Library and/or Digital Storage as well as provide same for customer copies of

their machine manual(s).

5. Create or modify PLC programs required for any modifications. Upload and install any PLC modifications on

the customers machine in the field. Create technical manuals as necessary for the customer and Service/Parts

departments.

6. Coordinate installations and modifications with the Service Department and instruct Field Service

Technicians (FST) of any modified operations of the press, including the addition any additional guarding or

necessary equipment.

7. Teach FST trouble shooting and/or testing procedures for diagnostics on such modifications if necessary.

Create trouble shooting/testing manual and incorporate in machine manual(s).

8. Trouble shoot electrical and/or problems at customer sites as required.

Skills and Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements

1. Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred or an equivalent Technical Degree with a minimum of 8 years of

equivalent industry related experience in electrical design of automation interfaces on capital machinery.

2. Familiarization with US safety and build standards of ANSI B11, OSHA 217, current NEC and NFPA codes,

standards and design practices.

3. Ability to travel to customer sites for meetings and installations as needed. Flexibility to travel on short notice

as well.

4. A valid US passport and state driver’s license required. US citizenship required for access at some customer

locations; no criminal convictions to inhibit international travel.

5. Proficiency in Electrical AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, Email or other company provided programs. null
