Job Description

Instrumentation and Controls Engineer

+ Experience working for and in an industrial facility or in a consulting firm environment. On-site experience supporting the oil and gas, chemical, or power generation industries.

+ Familiar with specifying instrumentation from P&ID level inputs.

+ Able to create wiring diagrams, panel layouts, I/O control diagrams and select related components.

+ Knowledge of industrial PLC’s, VFD’s, control panels and related electronics.

+ Demonstrated knowledge of PLC, historian, and communications architecture plans.

+ Familiarity with SIS systems and SIL ratings is a plus.

+ Good working knowledge of the NEC and related industry codes and practices.

+ Able to plan and support projects including area lighting, 120 and 480V power panels distribution drawings as well as sizing cables and conduits.

+ Experience with design of electrical power distribution, control, and instrumentation systems.

+ Preparation of documents, reports and drawings from concept through implementation.

+ Good, demonstrated CAD skills are a big plus.

+ The ability to communicate both written and orally and work with Clients onsite in an industrial setting.

+ The position will visit jobsites and provide project management support as required.

+ While the position has work balance flexibility, this is not a remote work position.

+ Proven track record of scoping and executing projects and developing project cost estimates that are enough to complete a proper analysis while remaining cost competitive.

+ Work with project managers and other team members to meet project deadlines and budgets. Reliable in controlling costs and adhering to required scope boundaries.

+ Able to act as project manager on smaller, less complex projects or work in teams on multidisciplinary projects.

+ Participate in building code research and analysis to ensure compliance with local and national codes.

+ Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering

+ PE is a plus

+ 15 years experience

+ Proficiency in Smart Plant Instrumentation, Aveva Engineering, Exida or Autocad

+ Able to travel up to 10% of the time for clients visits beyond day trip distances. Mandatory to possess a valid US Driver’s License.

+ Candidate will need to be able to support occasional work at client sites where candidate may need to climb ladders to reach elevated platforms in order to perform assessments as well as to take and verify measurements for project scope areas.

+ Self-starter with initiative and ability to complete engineering deliverables and tasks with minimal supervision.
