Category Analyst, C-Store - Mars Wrigley

Chicago, IL

This role will have direct Category responsibility for various small to mid-tier Central C-Store retailers. This role is responsible for providing analytics, scalable solutions, and scope appropriate decisions for the Category Leadership Team. This will enable the broader team to deliver objectives and required KPIs for both company and Customer(s). Responsibilities could range from analysis, reporting, planogram drawing, decision making, problem solving, project management, and turning insights into actionable customer insights that shape the business.

What are we looking for?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent work experience
  • 1 year experience in Sales or Category Management
  • 1 year of business analytics experience
  • Experience working with syndicated data software (i.e., IRI or Nielsen)
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office programs specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel 20%+ of the time



Preferred:

  • 2+ years of experience in Sales or Category Management in the CPG industry
  • 2+ years of business Analytics experience in the CPG industry
  • Complete understanding of the Category Management process



What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Provide analysis and make decisions on a variety of projects within the Category Leadership team:
  • Shelving excellence strategies that drive total category performance
    • Development of JDA POGs; IC/FC, across multiple channels depending on project scope
    • Assortment optimization and incrementality
    • Price/Promotion efficiencies
    • Merchandising effectiveness
  • The expectations of this role is to leverage, where appropriate, solutions/tools such as:
    • Space management initiatives such as Prospace (JDA), Apollo for merchandising visualization
    • Nielsen/IRI/Syndicated Data sources for analyses
    • Forecasting tools, both seasonal and everyday based on price/promotion/distribution
    • Incrementality tools to optimize the merchandise assortment
  • Create and maintain scale templates, including but not limited to:
    • Opportunity Gap, Pack Opportunity, Confectionery Quarterly Review Template and Panel Data Templates
  • Analyze syndicated and attitudinal data for trends, and decide which opportunities to pursue
  • Prioritization of workload and field stakeholder management
  • Functional and technical expertise and primarily deliver results through themselves.
  • Achieve goals by applying expert knowledge to make decisions and to influence others.
