What will you be doing at Woodard & Curran?

Woodard & Curran is seeking a Wastewater Operator who will operate our wastewater treatment plant, pump stations and related equipment, by taking responsibility of the operations and maintenance in their everyday tasks. You will work alongside our skilled staff in the operations of as flocculators, rapid mixer chambers, aerators, filters, pumps, lift stations, aeration basins, anoxic basins, instrumentation, motors, clarifiers, chemical feed systems, blowers, mixers, generators, lighting, chlorinators, rake drives, bar screens, storage tanks, meters, air compressors, sludge dewatering equipment, and other similarly related plant components and equipment. You will participate in on-call rotations that may include weekends, holidays and times of inclement weather, to respond to emergency situations.

Essential Duties include:

  • Takes responsibility for the daily operations and maintenance of the Water Treatment and Distribution System or Wastewater Treatment and Collection Systems as directed by the Chief Operator or Plant Manager.
  • Participates in an on call rotation on weekends, holidays and outside normal workday hours. Will be required to respond to emergency or unpredicted situations.
  • Performs daily checks of the facility to document operational status and maintenance requirements.
  • Assists in maintaining a complete and accurate on-site log book and records on water and/or wastewater quality analysis, in accordance with the facility's permit.



What will you need to succeed?

  • High School or trade school diploma is required.
  • 0-3 years' experience working in a water or wastewater treatment facility, preferred.
  • State Water or Wastewater Treatment Operator certification preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency with computers, including an ability to work with: SCADA, Microsoft Word, Excel, Maintenance Management Programs, and other site-specific systems.
  • Valid Illinois Driver's License.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.

$22.48 - $23.77 an hour

The salary ranges given below are a national average only and may be different for this role based on specific collective bargaining agreements or contract requirements.
