Primary Responsibilities
HDR is looking to hire a Traffic Engineer in our Rosemont office who will help grow the traffic engineering/planning practice, in the Illinois/Indiana market. The selected individual will also have the opportunity to work on projects across the country from other HDR offices. The overarching responsibilities for the position include production assignments on traffic and cross-disciplinary projects, lead tasks and support HDR business development.
Projects will range from traditional traffic engineering/planning studies to innovative solution development with advanced technologies for surface transportation. The range of projects that the individual in this position will work on may include:
Traffic engineering studies
Corridor studies
Corridor signal timing and optimization
Highway/roadway safety analyses
Travel demand forecasting
Local, regional and statewide multimodal transportation plans
Transportation planning reports
Transit studies (rail and bus)
Bicycle and pedestrian studies
Roadway and bridge projects with major traffic analysis components
Design-build projects with major traffic analysis components
Transportation research
Must be able to independently manage transportation projects. Would be responsible for developing business relationships through client interaction, project pursuits, and general marketing activities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil/Traffic/Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning or a closely related field.
5 years traffic engineering/transportation planning experience.
PE
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
